Afriolea compares shea butter and African oils and butters using dated records, not promises. Here is how those records are built.

Prices

Every price shown is dated and sourced: “recorded on [date] at [merchant].” A price is never shown as an average or an estimate; it is a single, dated record at a specific merchant. Prices change over time: an older record stays on the page with its date, never silently updated or presented as current.

Brands

A brand compared on Afriolea is checked against three public points: its unrefined or refined status as stated by the brand, its origin and cooperative as published by the brand, and the labels it claims, linked to the labels registry that explains what each one actually guarantees. When a brand does not publish a piece of information, Afriolea marks it as such rather than guessing.

What Afriolea does not do

Afriolea does not run laboratory comparison testing and does not publish an overall rating or a ranking based on unverifiable subjective opinion. No therapeutic claims are published. Cosmetic properties mentioned are stated cautiously and sourced.

Independence and affiliation

Some links to merchants are affiliate links: they may earn Afriolea a commission at no extra cost to you. Non-affiliated brands appear in our comparisons on the same footing as the others, with no priority tied to commission.

Corrections

If something looks inaccurate or out of date, you can report it to contact@afriolea.com. Any well-founded correction is applied and dated.
